Week #14 – ANZAC Albany – Dawn Service

More than 3000 people attended the 2014 ANZAC Day dawn service on Mt. Clarence in Albany this morning.  Held within sight of the formidable Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, it is said to be the biggest dawn service in Western Australia outside of Perth.  It is also the place of the first ANZAC dawn service in Australia.

This year marks 100 years since the first convoy left the safe waters of King George Sound carrying Australian and New Zealand troops to fight in the First World War.  Young men left our shores to witness unimaginable horrors – or worse – to never return.

I’ve attended many an ANZAC dawn service.  They never fail to move me.

Lest We Forget
