Portraits of the Great Southern will be a 52 week creative project, bringing to you images and stories from around the district. Little things, big things and things in between that capture my interest.
Once a week I aim to deliver, at the very least, one portrait of this place. Sometimes it might be two, other times it might be a series of images.
The portraits will be of place and of people – as seen through my eyes and lens.
Recently I moved to Albany from Perth. This is my ‘tree change’ and I would like to share it around. I want you to take part in my wanderings and discoveries through the region. It is a ‘get to know you’ if you like. A ‘hello’ and ‘g’day’.
As our lives go by, we often become immune to the amazing things around us, the opportunities in our very own backyard. For me, I will see all this with fresh eyes. For you, it may be the reminder that we live in an amazing place with a great community.
Tell your friends, tell your family.
Hit the ‘subscribe by email’ link to the left and join in the journey.
And if I approach you on the way, don’t be shy. Let me take your photo.

Ellen Cove at Middleton beach – favourite for tourists and locals alike, not to mention my young son. Already we have spent many hours combing the rocks for hidden crabs. At the end of the wooden jetty we look for little fish.
